What is wavefield energy and bandwidth? Why can leasing TRON energy reduce USDT handling fees?
Many users are aware that they are using the TRON network, but they may not fully understand some of the products on the TRON network. Today, I'll provide a brief explanation of what TRON energy and bandwidth are. How much TRON energy and bandwidth are consumed during transfers, and why renting TRON energy can reduce USDT transaction fees.
I. What Are TRON Energy and Bandwidth?
Quoting the official explanation from TRON:
TRON Bandwidth: Ordinary transactions only consume bandwidth (mainly transfers, staking, unlocking).
The bandwidth consumed by a transaction = transaction bytes * bandwidth rate (current bandwidth rate = 1). Each account can get 600 bandwidth quota for free every day.
Energy: Energy represents the processor resources consumed during the execution of smart contracts. Similar to bandwidth, energy can also be obtained by staking TRX, but there is no free energy allocated to each account every day.
Feeling confused? Let me explain it in simpler terms. TRON energy and bandwidth are unique products of the TRON network. When you transfer TRX, you only consume bandwidth, and no energy is required. However, when you transfer USDT, you need to consume both energy and bandwidth. Each address receives 600 free TRON bandwidth daily. TRON energy and bandwidth can be obtained by staking TRX.
One crucial point to note is that any newly generated TRON address doesn't have bandwidth or energy. Only addresses that have been activated will have energy and bandwidth. Activation is simple; you just need to receive a 0.1 TRX transfer from another address to the new address. However, there is a 1 TRX fee for activation.
II. Current Status of TRON Energy and Bandwidth Consumption
Now that you understand what TRON energy and bandwidth are, you might be wondering how much TRON energy and bandwidth are consumed during current transfers. The data is accurate as of the time of writing this article. Any changes in TRON energy and bandwidth consumption will be addressed in future articles.
Firstly, for TRX transfers, only bandwidth is consumed. Each TRX transfer consumes 269 bandwidth. If your account lacks sufficient bandwidth, 0.269 TRX will be deducted as a fee.
For USDT transfers, both energy and bandwidth are consumed. Transferring one USDT consumes 345 bandwidth. As for energy consumption, it falls into two categories. If the receiving address has USDT, energy consumption is 31,895. If the receiving address doesn't have USDT, energy consumption is 64,895.
Exchanges and centralized wallets are a bit special. Even though your account may show USDT, the receiving address often doesn't have USDT because exchanges or decentralized wallets periodically consolidate the USDT funds on receiving addresses into their own addresses. This explains why sometimes we see 31,895 energy consumption when transferring to exchanges and other times it's 64,895 energy.
III. Why Does Renting TRON Energy Reduce USDT Transaction Fees?
When we perform USDT transactions on the TRON network, we initially consume TRON energy and bandwidth from our account. If there is insufficient energy and bandwidth in our account to cover the transaction cost, TRX from our account is burned. Currently, when you transfer USDT, are you charged 13.3959 TRX or 27.2559 TRX as transaction fees? This is because your account lacks TRON energy to cover the transaction, so it burns TRX from your account.
So, how can you obtain TRON energy? The TRON official explanation states that you can obtain TRON energy by staking TRX. Currently, staking 1,900 TRX will yield 32,000 energy.
But what if you don't have so many idle TRX to stake, or you don't want to stake TRX? That's where energy leasing comes in!
Let's briefly explain energy leasing. Energy leasing allows you to obtain TRON energy from TRX stakers at a very low price. Since the energy leased to you has a limited duration, typically 1 hour, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, or 1 month, it's referred to as energy leasing rather than energy purchase.
For example, on the mefree.net energy leasing platform (you can find it by searching on Baidu), leasing energy with a 1-hour duration costs 3 TRX for 32,000 energy. If the receiving address has USDT, simply transfer 3 TRX to the mefree.net energy leasing platform's receiving address, and you will immediately receive 32,000 energy in your address. With 32,000 energy, you can offset the energy required for transferring USDT, without burning additional TRX. Similarly, if the receiving address doesn't have USDT, transfer 6.1 TRX to mefree.net, and you will instantly receive 65,000 energy. This way, you can transfer USDT without burning TRX from your account.
